"The relationships I've made through AWC Austin literally helped put a roof over my head during a time of personal crisis. When I thought about who I could turn to, my AWC friends were the only obvious choice. Networking in AWC Austin can be so much more than simply a means for career advancement." |
StudentsAWC Austin is invested in helping future communications professionals to grow and succeed. Each year, AWC Austin selects a deserving college undergraduate to receive the Jo Caldwell Meyer Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded at the organization’s annual Banner Brunch event in May. AWC Austin supports the work of the student chapters at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University in San Marcos by providing guest speakers, assisting with professional development events and posting internship opportunities. In 2010 the Texas State Student Chapter was recognized by AWC National with the Outstanding Student Chapter Award. Members also have the opportunity to serve as mentors to the students in AWC Austin’s E-mentoring Program. E-Mentoring Program Mentors who choose to participate will be assigned at least one student mentee who is interested in studying or working in the same professional field as the mentor. Matches are also based on similar backgrounds and interests. If you are interested in participating in the E-mentoring Program or serving as a speaker for the student chapter meetings, please email our student chapter liaison at students@awcaustin.org. Internship Postings Employers may submit internship openings here.
